Cuts by the Dam and

Cuts by the Dam and
ALHAMA
Today, November 1, decided to make this short but beautiful and intense tour that runs next to the river Alhama. So off we headed from Granada taking A-92 with Sevilla and diverted towards the exit 211 (Zafayona Moraleda-Alhama de Granada) to follow the A-402, which incidentally is works (how we'd get rid of them ...) passing through the towns of Zafayona Moraleda (annexed Alhama) and Santa Cruz Trade. A few miles before arriving at Alhama, we have a magnificent view of the town, with the Sierra de Tejeda the bottom. Leaving the cemetery of the city, then we come to town, having traveled by car around about 56 km. away from Granada. Alhama say, is how to pronounce its origins, namely "al-Hamma " referring to his word in Arabic for its hot springs and the older meaning of its waters.
Well, returning to the road, that's what it was, the short, educational and recreational tour itinerary today is a linear easy and comfortable and very well marked path, both wear the same caused by walkers, for the information panels (though they are in very poor condition, because it must be said, and the hand of man, for like here is discovered and spills).
But in order that, and returning back to the beginning of the trail, the trail part next to the first information sign, close to the Church of Our Lady of Carmen , next to the Mirador de los Tajos .
Here we have a magnificent landscape perspective concentrating around everything the eye can see: Los Molinos, the river Tajos themselves and thick woods dressed in gala today because it was autumn (with permission, of course, the heat and is spreading too much for these dates we are).
started the hike with a steep decline along the cobblestone street and a swirling " Ribera de los Molinos" to do justice to its name and puts us in the area known as the Mills. To our left and the river is the " -Factory Flour Mill in San Francisco" (albeit in a sad condition indeed), looking down there, despite being fairly covered by a thick grove the existence of so many more, some, apparently, recently restored.
Continuing along the left bank of the river Alhama and a dirt road, easily recognizable, we can come to a total of 8 information panels, but as I said some do with text or images, and surely they would display information about the traveler of these sites and their surroundings.
then crossed into an area where we see a huge rock, probably detached from the pits as a result of the earthquake that struck this city back in 1884.
continue the march and as we walk we will see how poplars and poplars along the river in the distance, yellow leaving the eye candy. We also discovered some abandoned cave houses the hand of nature. But one stands out for its whiteness. This is the Hermitage Ntra.Sra.de Angels Cave and as recorded in an inscription above the door, dates from 1500 and restored in 1888 (probably after the earthquake mentioned). From here the trail widens to become almost a rail-rider, because that would also have to suffer ... And here are not spared even the birds.
During this trip we have seen, breathing and photographed countless plants, trees and forest: sage, marjoram, majoletos, hips, broom, asparagus, willow, poplar, cottonwood, hackberry, fig, pine, ash, almond .
When you reach a fork in the road, we take the left to cross a wooden bridge that brings us to the other side of the river, right. Across a beautiful mall and let our left just see a water harvesting structures where regulating the Alhama River Diversion to the Swamp of Bermejales . We continued walking and already led to a paved road. If we turn right, we are positioned just above the bridge in front of spillway dam and if we continue a few hundred yards (which would for make time for lunch), it continues the path that is marked properly and that travels round the prey by its right side. At the end reach a large square where on your left is a booth outside observer of birds. Here in the dam, there are many coots, and some samples of mallards, teal, grebes and , as shown in the LCD panel. What a pity I did not bring binoculars ...! But good to the naked eye can photograph and at home. Because here, the abundance of water and greenery, all are invited to stay.
But we, retracing our steps, positioning point where the path led to the asphalt, and already served time for the "Angelus", "follow the trail" to the " Hospedería the Ventorro ", where we stop to taste those dishes that are sought and found as a treasure and we have so close, "in front of our door." So here is the entrance to the gold mine: first, red pepper salad, a second pot Jamena and kid with garlic, and dessert bienmesabe of the Poor Clares (with local wine and coffee included).
the way back, we would retracing our steps, but this familiar price: enjoying the evening, now as then the landscape of the river downstream.
As the ride is short, it is recommended to complete visiting some of the many monuments in this illustrious city of both the Christian conquest times such as Arabic or Roman times, as well as many relics as: remains of Neolithic on the banks of river Marchan, near the old town, near the thermal baths, etc. Also pointing to this location is a must pass in two of the Andalusian Legacy routes: the route of Ibn Battuta and the American writer Washington Irving. PS I have to
the cruising, and before leaving this beautiful city, would stop in Hot Springs (taking a detour to the left before crossing the bridge, making a brief stop at the entrance, to the back, then this detour, taking a path marked as "Vereda de Alhama Huelma Cacín and Sales" and visit the magnificent Roman bridge still preserved and in very good indeed, but a little hidden.
From here, soon, and not return for the winding road that brought us works, we take the A-338 heading to the Swamp of Bermejales , who visited a brief stop, to continue on this road and across populations and Agrón Huelma Sales , end, turning left at the next junction, take the A-385 towards Santa Fe . Hence again by the A-92 to Granada .
As always leave some snapshots as evidence and hope that the taste of the landscape, will lead us and bring us, as always with our feet as their only weapons.
